The author of the game, Veronica Alva is an artist and a graphic designer originating from Mexico City. After living in many places, she now calls Montreal her home of 6 years.
As a graphic designer, she has worked mostly to promote cultural events by creating unique posters which is her favourite media, as it combines typography, illustration, photography to catch the eye in a public space.
In search of a more personal reflection in her work, she has created Je suis Toi – The Game of Empathy, a game of cards that has the purpose to teach kids empathy with illustrations inspired by nature in Quebec.

Veronica Alva est une artiste et designer graphique depuis près de 20 ans. En 2019, elle a décidé d’amener ses compétences à un autre niveau et a crée un jeu en français et en espagnol inspiré par la culture Maya de ses origines et la connection à la nature au Québec. En jouant Je Suis Toi, les participants travaillent la reconnaissance d’animaux et d’éléments naturels du Québec.
Les illustrations sont magnifiques et les enfants apprennent à les apprivoiser en comprenant qu’ils sont chacun de ces éléments aussi d’une certaine façon. Le jeu permet également d’apprendre l’espagnol grâce à la traduction du nom français, à l’arrière de la carte. C’est un jeu qui attire enfants et adultes de tous âges.
